forest underground

my heart leapt when I beheld these amazing rugs!

Angela Adams's collection features furniture, unique ornate rugs, and many other amazing designs! Someday I would love to invest in such a whimsical and beautiful rug.

I could spend hours watching the slideshow on her website... so many amazing forms, collections and colors!

fun! love! yay!

In Texas I loved February for its few surprisingly summery days, when I could drive around with girlfriends in a convertible with the top down and start working on some tan lines. Now in my home of Portland, Oregon my seasons are well defined, and February seems like a stepping stone to March, the harbinger of spring!

Thankfully the blogs are exploding with love love love...

I love to explore the history of "Hallmark Holidays" and Valentine's Day has deep rooted traditions (muddled and fuddled by the Holy Roman Empire naturally).

"The Romans celebrated a holiday on February 14th to honor Juno Fructifier, Queen of the Roman gods and goddesses as well as goddess of marriage.

On February 15, Romans celebrated Luperaclia, honoring Faunus, god of fertility. Men would go to a grotto dedicated to Lupercal, the wolf god, located at the foot of Palatine Hill and where Romans believed that the founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus, were suckled by a she-wolf. The men would sacrifice a goat, don its skin, and run around, hitting women with small whips, an act which was supposed to ensure fertility."

Party!

Here's a funky cool diy project to get you in the mood for some she-wolf whip action. tee hee

sunshine and snow

Second ever nordic skiing expedition.... 100% successful!

Finished a new hat en-route to the trailhead!

The mountain view was crystal clear...

Oh Mt Hood... what a treasure you are!

Only one fall... quite a spectacular face plant! Otherwise I am completely sore in such a good way.
Afterwards we capped off a successful day with Oregon microbrews and a dip in the Kennedy School soaking pool.

numero 27 el corazon

Numero 27 El Corazon, originally uploaded by Jello Kitty.
When I first discovered typography as one of my loves, I knew that the clean, simple lines of Futura, Century Gothic and the like were for me.

I have since accepted the presence of the serif, and even gone so far as to utilize them in many of my designs...

But what amazed me was discovering the history of typography. That Futura and her friends were actually early 20th century fonts that broke away from the traditional serif pack. The world of design opened up to me and provided a post-collegiate education that was a self directed study in what had always been a passion for me. (My English Lit essays were probably the only ones produced in Quark!)

Vintage captures the imagination of a technology inundated society. The new moms and dads of my generation can remember a time before cell phones and internet, but their children never will. Its nice to see a movement towards neo-luddite tendencies with tactile things.

Moving away from the mind, the sedentary bodies, and leading with the heart. The blood-pumping, dynamic heart. El Corazon.

she looked lovely and quite unique.

charming nest

NEW charm necklace, originally uploaded by nestdecorating.

I promise... when the sun returns in the evening I will have so many amazing garden shots. April... I can't even begin to express how lovely things will be over here. Apple tree blossoms, I feel like I should learn to sew really really fast, buy dozens of yards of pink taffeta and wear a tutu everyday just to celebrate the amazing white blossoms my home will shower upon me. {love}

until then... admire these charming flower thingy dingies.

pheremone

Although Pantone released its 2010 color forecast, I must be still stuck in 2009 because I am on a mimosa color kick this week! I think its the return of the sun... making me giddy. What beautiful sunrises/sunsets in Portland this week. Hot pinks, deep purples... similar to my brand new hat!

This set of work titled Form and Pheremone by Christopher Marley is amazing. The most beautiful bugs arranged in the most intricate and imaginative patterns... you must check it out!

He also shows some love to fossilized friends

Ammonites are quite amazing to me.
